Programme Summary

The initials ACODO stand for Assisting Cambodian Orphans and the Disabled Organisation. ACODO was established by a well intended selfless group of people concerned about the difficulties faced by the orphans, poor/street children, the disabled and indigent families in Cambodia nationwide and to respond to the illiteracy of the disabled, orphans and indigent people.

ACODO also has indigent family supporting programme. The indigent families were assisted with many different ways according to difficulties they have faced in their real living conditions. ACODO helped them with what they have needed and it was very important to them, especially what is going make their living conditions improve; they are going to be able to help themselves without any supporting from ACODO any more in the future after ACODO supporting. Further more ACODO is going to reduce the burden of the indigent families – ACODO is going to accept the children of indigent families to live and educate foreign languages and specialist skills if it is a big family with a lot of children and the children’s parents don’t have enough ability to support. The children were fed and taken care of by ACODO and ACODO is going to be responsible for them in stead of their parent’s responsibilities that is not enough; they are going to be supported like other orphans and disabled people. The indigent families have been supplied with requirements in their daily living conditions such as sustenance, capital to do their own business, tools needed to use in their careers, and some animals (pigs, chickens, ducks, etc.) to feed.
